Are Switch 2 emulators legal?
This is not legal advice. The pattern in the public record is that the program and the copied game files get treated differently.
What the cases actually were
Polygon reported that Yuzu's developers settled with Nintendo in March 2024 for 2.4 million dollars and shut the project down. Eurogamer reported that Ryujinx's creator took the project offline in October 2024 after contact from Nintendo.
Nintendo's 17 Aug 2026 GitHub notice covers 311 repositories in one network. Android Authority reports seven notices affecting more than 400 repositories in total, including that 311-repository network. These figures describe different scopes, not competing totals for one notice.
Keys, firmware dumps, and game copies are the files this site will not host or link. The download page points at emulator source releases only. Whether you may use a personal copy is a question for a lawyer in your country, not a sentence I can settle.
What this page will not do
I will not publish prod.keys, firmware, or a dump guide. I will not link sites that sell those files. If a release page disappears after a notice, the download table should record the date instead of swapping in a mirror.

FAQ
Is writing an emulator a crime by itself?
The cases above were about specific projects and distributions, not a universal rule. 'Usually' is as far as a non-lawyer page should go.
Where do I get keys and firmware?
Not here. Those files are outside this site on purpose.
